So something amazing happened a few weeks ago… If you’ve seen me blowing up Instagram (so sorry) then you know what I’m talking about. Hint: it has to do with an engagement.
On April 8th, my boyfriend and I headed into the city to stroll along the Harborwalk, one of our absolute favorite spots; I could sit and watch the planes take off and land all day.
Kenny and I planned to do a little shoot here for an outfit post, little did I know that these pictures were about to be for something else…
Kenny was smart enough to know my requirements: I needed to look somewhat presentable (since I live in yoga pants on the weekend), I needed to have my nails done and I wanted it to be just us. What better way than a blog photo shoot at the Harborwalk? Which is so quiet and peaceful on the weekends. Plus, it holds sentimental value for me. After the engagement – everything else was going to involve our family and friends. I’m so happy that we had that one special moment to ourselves to cry, laugh and be in shock.
I’m pretty sure that were both so happy and in-the-moment that we didn’t even know what the other said (I don’t know if the actual word YES! even came out of my mouth). It feels so surreal to be engaged to my best friend and equal. He’s now earned the title of Instagram Fiance (LOL).
As for the ring (which I am OBSESSED with) – there’s also another story behind that. I knew I wanted something “unique” yet classic and vintage looking. A few months back Kenny and I headed to a local jeweler that my parents used to go to to help create my dream ring. I knew I wanted to incorporate a piece of my dad in the ring. The two diamonds on the side are from a piece of jewelry he gave my mom years ago. Kenny and I both love the sentimental value behind the ring (can you see a trend going?). It’s something old and something new; a piece of my past and future.
Read the whole story on How He Asked here. We still can’t believe it and are so over the moon for this next chapter in our lives and relationship!
Let the wedding planning begin!
