budget-friendly spring capsule wardrobe

A spring capsule wardrobe when winter seems far from over?! Even though it doesn’t feel like spring in MA, doesn’t mean it’s not coming. In an effort to channel spring and will it to feel like spring, I’m rounding up a few of my favorite pieces for spring. To me, spring feels like a fresh start. So, I thought to myself: “what better time to FINALLY start that capsule wardrobe I’ve been going on and on about?” I tried to focus on pieces that need updating in my closet (and will stick around for multiple seasons) and pieces that can be worn again and again, in a variety of ways. I tried to focus on pieces that were QUALITY but not insanely, over-the-top expensive.

ONE. I JUST purchased this stripe top from J.Crew and I’m so excited! I love that it’s over-sized and flow-y. I think it’d look so cute front-tucked into ripped denim and slides.

TWO. I own this striped tee in navy and white and it’s a real classic. I wore it all winter under my go-to sweater blazer and come spring, I’ll swap out the sweater for a denim jacket.

THREE. Since we’re on the topic of tees, how cute is this not-your-average “Ciao baby” tee?! I LOVE.

FOUR. You can never have too many stripes for spring or any season, really.

FIVE. When you’re in a pinch, a black popover silk top is always easy to style. It can easily transition from season to season and for just about any occasion.

SIX. This boyfriend oxford is another recent purchase from J.Crew’s most recent sale. Pair with white denim (forget those Memorial Day rules) for a light, airy springtime look.

SEVEN. I’ve had my eye on this Madewell white boyfriend button down for a while but consider it a #1 capsule wardrobe must. The styling options are endless.

EIGHT. There’s honestly nothing I love more than pull-on chinos for spring/summer. They’re perfect for warm(er) days at the office when you still have to look dressed up but want to stay comfy and cool.

NINE. I’ve seen these white crops all over Insta and they look so flattering and perfect for spring when you want to swap out your old go-to denim for something a little fresher.

TEN. Honestly I love t-shirt dresses SO much. I think this one from Everlane is so flattering and it’s such a great price for the quality.

ELEVEN. I love how crisp and clean a white shirtdress looks in the spring. Dress it down with sneakers or up with wedge espadrilles.

TWELVE. I’m loving this black midi dress for spring. I think it could be so versatile with wedges or mules or slip-on sandals.

THIRTEEN. A jean jacket for spring is almost a no-brainer! I love the over-sized fit of this Levi’s one.

FOURTEEN. The early spring months can be a bit chilly so having a heavier jacket on hand can be helpful. I purchased this faux leather one in the fall and I love it! I’m always reaching for it.

Shoes + accessories:

FIFTEEN. I love this woven pair of mules come warmer weather! They’re so fun. Besides loafers, mules probably get the most mileage from my shoe closet. They’re super easy to just throw on and go.

SIXTEEN. My Sam Edelman loafers (I own them in cheetah and I’m obsessed!) get some serious mileage. And honestly, they’ve withstood the test of wearing through the fall and winter. I really love this nude pair for spring.

SEVENTEEN. You can’t ever really go wrong with a pair of new fresh white sneaks for spring. I’ve been trying to get my hands on a pair of Veja’s but since Meghan Markle was spotted wearing them, they’ll be sold out for the next 5 years.

EIGHTEEN. I’ve recently become obsessed with STAUD bags. I love this black + white one. It’ll match with just about anything, too.

NINETEEN. I love a patterned bandanna tied onto a bag or around your neck for a little something extra.

TWENTY. I love the way hats look but I’m still not entirely convinced I can pull them off. Stay tuned.

What’s on your spring wish list?!
