summer capsule wardrobe

Better late than never to make updates to your capsule wardrobe by adding these summer-friendly pieces! To be fair, the weather in Boston has only recently started to cooperate and REALLY feel like summer. If you’ve been following along here lately, you’re no stranger to the fact that I looove the idea of a capsule wardrobe. Not only does it make it easy to outfit plan (which is crucial during the work week because I love sleeping in LOL) but it’s also more environmentally friendly + sustainable. One of my fave blogger’s to gain inspo from in this area is Jess Kirby. She does such a good job explaining + breaking everything down!

Admittedly, it’s a slooow process. I recently did a deep clean of my closet but still feel like I have so.much.stuff so I’m vowing to take it season by season and update, edit, modify my capsule wardrobe as needed!

Here are a few pieces to make for an easy-to-wear summer capsule wardrobe (plus, they’re budget friendly – taking quality into consideration!):

One. Linen dress(es). I’ve never met a linen piece I didn’t like. I love dresses for summer because they’re easy, breathable, require no effort but still look put together. Plus, linen is more sustainable than some other fabrics. This one from GAP is a good price point.

Two. Jumpsuit. Again, all about the ease here. Especially for summer. I saw that Everlane just recently released this cotton jumpsuit and it’s already in my shopping cart. We’re headed to Chicago in August so this will definitely be coming along.

Three. T-shirt dress. I own this t-shirt dress from Everlane and love it so much! It’s comfy and easy to throw on and go.

Four. Linen shirt. Again with the linen… But it’s really such a staple for summer. I am also (mildly) obsessed with button downs so gotta have a linen one for summer!

Five. Short-sleeve button up. I have a few short-sleeve button ups and they totally give me #dad vibes but I love it. I have this cactus print one from Madewell and it’s adorable.

Six. Silk cami. A silk cami is a basic to have in your wardrobe all year round. You can honestly wear it 100 different ways – under a hounds tooth blazer for fall, under a chunky cardi, with a leopard skirt, with paperbag shorts, etc.

Seven. Light t-shirt. Again, another must to have in your closet. I love these ones from Madewell!

Eight. Paper bag shorts. I love the look of paper bag shorts – especially these olive ones. They can easily be a bit dressier or paired with a tee + slide sandals.

Nine. Jean shorts. I haven’t found a pair of denim shorts I love yet but, I’ve seen rave reviews about these Everlane ones and they’re a good price point so I’m excited to give ’em a whirl!

Ten. Pull-on shorts. Do you see a trend here? Easy, easy, easy. When it’s hot out, the lasttttt thing I want to think about is feeling weighed down by clothing. I love that these shorts are air-y.

Eleven. Linen pants. I have a love affair with my J.Crew linen joggers. But really. I wore them here for a bit dressier look and here in MV during the day.

Twelve. Lace-up wedges. I pretty much live in my Soludos wedges come summertime. They’re one of the MOST comfortable pairs of wedges (actually maybe even shoes) I’ve ever owned and I think they look so flattering with the lace-up detailing.

Thirteen. Slide sandals. Honestly, I just love slide sandals for ease – especially a nude or neutral pair. They go with everything which is key for a capsule wardrobe.

Fourteen. Birks.Nothing super groundbreaking here but… I’m mildly obsessed with my Birkenstocks. They’re borderline almost-too-ugly-to-be-cute but also super comfortable so…

Fifteen. Straw hat. Although I love a good summer glow as much as the next person, protecting your face from the sun is really for your own good. Plus, a straw hat looks chic AF.

Cheers,

Tash
